Fourteen members of ISMS team lived and worked for one week in Puerto Cabezas, which is located 560 kms northeast of Managua on the Atlantic Coast. During the trip some team members visited the local orphanage where they gave donated clothes, shoes, books, toys and art material to the kids. While in Puerto a civil unrest brook between the government and the local rebels from the Miskitu communities due to election irregularities. The rebels closed the airport and the highway connecting Puerto with Managua. The team had to travel for hours over unpaved roads and cross the river in canoes with their luggage and equipment.
